On Tuesday, January 23rd, we hosted our much-anticipated annual NRoSO CPD training event and interactive workshop at Springwood Park in Kelso, drawing a large flock of local farmers’ eager to deepen their understanding of pesticide application practices.
This event is a pivotal component of the farming and crop protection industry’s Voluntary Initiative, aimed at mitigating the environmental impact of pesticides. Crop Services Scotland Ltd. proudly spearheads this initiative in collaboration with NRoSO (National Register of Sprayer Operators).
Over the years, UK farmers, growers, and sprayer operators have increasingly prioritised adhering to best practices in pesticide application. Our annual training sessions, facilitated by NRoSO, have been instrumental in keeping operators abreast of the latest updates and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
The interactive nature of our training event provides a platform for operators to exchange insights, troubleshoot challenges, and glean valuable techniques from peers. It’s not just about theoretical knowledge; it’s about practical solutions that resonate with real-world farming scenarios.
Structured into three key sections, our training event covers a breadth of topics:
Current Issues: Delving into both national headlines and localised concerns, this section ensures participants are attuned to pertinent issues affecting their farming practices.
Application Logistics: From the intricacies of spraying techniques to factors influencing effective coverage, this segment hones in on the operational aspects crucial for successful pesticide application.
Technology and Tips: Embracing advancements in sprayer technology and sharing best practices, this section equips attendees with actionable insights to enhance their spraying operations.
The culmination of the day involves reflecting on the learnings gleaned and consolidating the wealth of information covered throughout the event.
Delegates completing the training day not only accrue valuable CPD points but also depart armed with a comprehensive best practice workbook and a certificate of attendance, serving as tangible reminders of their commitment to excellence in pesticide application.
